A monthly budget lets you track spending, receive usage alerts, and optionally stop projects when spending exceeds your target. Manage it in Billing, under Budget.
The budget belongs to your billing account and covers projects across all workspaces for which you are the billing owner. It is not a separate allowance for each project. See Workspace billing ownership if another person pays for your workspace.
Set a monthly budget
- Open Billing and select Edit Budget.
- Enter your Monthly budget in whole US dollars.
- Choose whether to enable Stop projects when budget is exceeded.
- Select Save.
The Budget section shows spending recorded for the current month against your target, along with whether project stops are enabled. Setting the budget to 0 disables budget alerts and budget-based stops.
Budget usage counts recorded spending for the calendar month. Credit purchases and refunds do not count as spending toward this target. Adding credits does not reset the month’s usage or increase the budget. For example, buying $100 in credits and using $20 of resources counts as $20 of budget usage.
Add usage alerts
Select Add Alert, enter a whole-number percentage from 1 to 100, and select Add. Each percentage must be unique. Use the edit or delete control on an existing alert to change or remove it.
For example, with a $100 budget, alerts at 50%, 80%, and 100% correspond to $50, $80, and $100 of recorded spending. Alerts appear as account notifications and are emailed to the billing account owner’s email address.
Agiler checks recorded spending periodically. If spending passes several thresholds between checks, it sends the highest threshold reached rather than a separate email for every lower threshold. Alerts do not stop projects by themselves; enable the project-stop option separately if you want that behavior.
Understand project stops
With Stop projects when budget is exceeded enabled and a positive budget set, Agiler stops projects billed to your account when recorded monthly spending exceeds the budget. The billing account owner receives a notification and an email about the stop.
Actual costs can exceed the budget. Usage is processed periodically, so recent activity may not yet appear in the total when a check runs. Stopping projects also does not remove their stored files, databases, or backups; retained storage continues to accrue charges. See How billing works for the resources that contribute to spending.
To lift a budget stop, open Edit Budget and raise the budget above the current month’s spending, or turn off Stop projects when budget is exceeded, then save. The change is applied as projects synchronize. Projects must still meet other requirements to run, including having sufficient account credit and being enabled.
Use budgets with auto reload
Auto reload replenishes your credit balance; the budget tracks monthly spending. These settings serve different purposes. Setting a budget does not turn off auto reload or set a maximum card charge. Review both settings when deciding how much to spend and whether projects should stop if usage exceeds your target.
