Use the ChatGPT desktop app’s local MCP configuration to connect to Agiler. Start with an Agiler API key restricted to your project and the projects:read scope.

Configure the desktop connection

The desktop app shares MCP configuration with Codex clients on the same host. Add the following to your personal ~/.codex/config.toml, merging it with any existing configuration. If an agiler entry already exists, update that entry instead of creating a duplicate.

[mcp_servers.agiler]
url = "https://mcp.agiler.io/v1"
http_headers = { Authorization = "Bearer ak_REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_KEY" }

Replace ak_REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_KEY with your full Agiler key. This version stores the key in your personal configuration file; keep the file private. If your desktop process already receives AGILER_API_KEY through its environment, you can replace the http_headers line with bearer_token_env_var = "AGILER_API_KEY" to keep the secret out of the file.

In the app, open Settings → MCP servers, then restart the connection. Use /mcp to check for agiler. See OpenAI’s MCP documentation for the desktop configuration controls.

Verify the connection

Start a conversation and ask:

Use Agiler’s whoami tool to check my account, then list the projects I can access. Do not make changes.

Check that the returned account and projects match your expectations. Continue with your first task.

ChatGPT on the web

The web custom-app flow supports OAuth, unauthenticated servers, and a mixture of those methods. It does not accept a custom Agiler API-key header. Agiler’s hosted MCP endpoint requires that header, so adding its URL as an unauthenticated web app will fail. See OpenAI’s developer-mode guide and authentication requirements.

Use the desktop connection above or Codex for direct access. A web integration would require an authenticated intermediary that supports ChatGPT’s OAuth flow and securely supplies the Agiler key; Agiler does not provide that intermediary in this setup.

If desktop tools do not appear, check troubleshooting. Organization policies may restrict custom MCP servers.
